TITLE: Astounding “Sound Sculptures” unveiled at New Designers 25th Anniversary

Terence Harding, a re-emerging cutting-edge, contemporary British sculptor has developed a new series of sculpture or ‘Scientific Art’ which is the expression of sound waves through form.

Terence’s unique talent as an artist, is to have a true handle of geometry, mathematics and software programming, so he can act as a point where art and science meet, in order to make awesome looking sculptures out of real life:

”There is something in common between scientists and artists and that is a need to either enact, or instigate in others, observation, questioning and expression. That’s what ‘Scientific Art’ is all about.”  T. Harding

Terence’s latest works are partly comprised of his interpretation of the subject (whether that be a person, place or object) and partly by the subjects actual recording in sound.

“The sculptures I produce are influenced by my feelings about the subject, but the elements which are created by the sound recording give the sculptures a special uniqueness.  Not only does my software act like a microscope making the invisible exciting and real, but the authenticities of my process capture the very essence of the original.”  T. Harding

·         Terence works in a variety of materials using both hand-making and computer aided manufacture.

·         Sculpture for both interior and landscape contexts

·         Can work on any scale

Terence is a brilliant and gifted sculptor who has been creating computer programmes since the age of 7.  His ‘Scientific Art’ was selected for the UK’s Crafts Council’s “New Faces” Showcase 2008 at the V&A (1 of 18 chosen from 4,500) and appeared in the prestigious New Designers SELECTION 2007 exhibition during the London Design Festival with his pioneering ‘Fluid Warp’ sculptures (under his given name Philip Harding).

Be the first to see Terence Harding’s new collection. He is unveiling his first sound sculptures based on Chris Martin (Coldplay) and Jay Kay (Jamiroquai) at the New Designers  25th Anniversary at the Business Design Centre,  London N1 on 1st - 4th July.
